Style of garden : informal, wild life friendly garden with box hedging, yew topiary and herbaceous perennial borders
Description of the garden : our garden was made on a shoe string using wedding present yew seedlings, grown on before final planting, all the different kinds of box were grown from very small plants from Elizabeth Braimbridge & as cuttings, from family and friends The herbaceous plants were grown from division, seed and as gifts. The topiary is cut annually in late Autumn/ Winter and some areas are planted with bulbs left to grow into long grass, the main lawn is now a grass spiral! All of the topiary was initially shaped and maintained by us but now has help from young people who trained to cut here including Darren Lerigo who learnt his early topiary skills here.
Special activities offered in the garden for World Topiary Day
The garden will be open on Saturday 11 may from 1100-1600
We will offer, topiary cutting demonstrations, a talk on box moth control using natural, safe. techniques & propagation lessons using material from here which can be taken home afterwards.
